A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome, thanks for visiting! I'm Rosie Taylor, the independent, British creative behind The R Space. I was born in the UK where I studied at Nottingham Trent University, developing my passion for textiles, knitwear & colour. Upon graduation, I moved to Hong Kong to work as a knitwear designer for a classic spinning company that also specialised in hand knit yarns. This fusion of industry experience influenced my signature tactile knitwear style - which plays with combinations of these two disciplines; challenging the rules of working by hand, stitch by stitch. I now live and work in London for myself and as a freelance designer (yay!!) and have recently been accepted to study an MA in sustainable fashion at London College of Fashion. You can view my portfolio of knitwear design, graphics, branding and pattern writing here.

ABOUT THE SHUI SERIES

Inspired by the ancient traditions of Feng Shui, these sensual, evocative and colourful textile wall art tapestries have been designed to affect the chi, or vital energy flow, in any room through their unique injection of colour and texture. The five Chinese elements have been carefully considered, interpreted and incorporated into the art, while the base subtly connects these together through its gossamer, sheer knitted structure. The opaque shapes are delicately interwoven by hand, stitch by stitch onto the base.

MATERIAL CHOICE

I work only with natural, biodegradable yarn, including GOTS certified cotton and recycled fibre.

THINGS I LOVE

All yarnie crafts! Hiking and getting into the great outdoors, aromatherapy, morning coffees (who doesn't?!) dogs!

A DREAM OF MINE

A purpose built studio with beautiful natural light, flowers everywhere and my yarn stash beautifully organised by colour...
